Our Programs

We pride ourselves on possessing a deep understanding of our community’s needs and our ability to provide innovative and traditional giving opportunities to match the passions of our donors with the needs of the community. We have the vision and courage to inspire a vibrant future for our community.

We believe the success of our plans would lead to reduced homelessness, drug abuse, violence, and inequality
The desire to carry out this project was born out of the love and compassion we share for everyone around us,
it's about giving someone hope, help, and support in finding a way out of a situation that seemed impossible.
To do this, we would be providing temporary shelter for these distressed individuals and or families, while we help them acquire skills, tools,
confidence and build resilience / self-sustainable.

When we work with community leaders to support the reduction of homelessness, violence, victims of domestic violence,
Through our community program Savings and Loan programs, we hope families will be self-reliant,
financially stable and able to support and strengthen their communities.
Through our programs, we promote healthy immune systems and enable children to develop through adolescence and into adulthood. We focus on developing the life, and community circumstances that impact individuals’ lives.

As a non-profit, we help people develop skills and knowledge, and empower our neighbors to create positive change in their lives. With more than 420 staff, including expert counselors and support workers, helping youth experiencing homelessness,
families and children impacted by trauma, and victims of domestic violence. We provide resources to our community members that fuel their opportunities and empower them to live positive, responsible lives.

Family and Youth, Single-Parenting Issues

At the Miranda Foundation, we put family first, we believe in creating a strong family structure centered around traditional and cultural values. We also believe that it is our duty to arm our Youth with the preparedness to go out into the world and carry on these deep cultural values. We also will help with providing support and recourses to single parents.

Community

A community is like a machine, with many parts that work together for one great purpose. In order to keep these parts in working order, it is important to create a strong foundation that will hold everything together. Our goal is to bring the community together by educating and supporting traditional Indigenous culture, through dance, concerts, games, and much more.

Racism

In a world that seems to be rampant with chaos and hatred, we must work together to tear down the walls that stand between us by shedding light on the beauty that our cultures have to offer. If we stand together united, we can stop the spread of racism one brick at a time.

Rape

Among indigenous women, there is a whopping 34% that have experienced rape in their lifetime. Together we can raise awareness, teach safety measures, and offer counseling to those who have fallen victim, so that they may rise from the ashes and shine again.

Poverty

Indigenous peoples in Canada experience the highest levels of poverty: A shocking 1 in 4 Indigenous peoples (Aboriginal, Métis and Inuit) or 25% are living in poverty and 4 in 10 or 40% of Canada's Indigenous children live in poverty. Miranda Foundation aims to help provide food and shelter for those in need and help find the means and recourses to help our people out of poverty.

Violence

Indigenous people are 2.5 times as likely to experience violent crimes compared to all other races. More than 4 in 5 Indigenous women, or 84.3 percent, have experienced violence in their lifetime. By educating and offering counseling, both anger management, and victim counseling we will reduce these statistics and bring peace to our communities once again.

Addictions

In British Columbia alone, the mortality rate for Indigenous people who use drugs is 5 times higher than for other drug users. Despite representing just 2.6% of the total population, Indigenous Peoples account for 10% of overdose deaths. By providing counseling and resources we intend to reduce the number of drugs amongst our community.

Stress, Grief, and Loss

These are all things that play a major role in our everyday lives, and many of the things so many Indigenous people face on a daily basis, cause these very things. By offering support and counseling and resources we can work together to provide less stress and brighter futures.

Many More Programs Available

We understand there are countless issues plaguing our communities. We are here to help with whatever it is that is needed to ensure our people can live their best lives, by having a good home, decent family relations, and community.
